I truly believe that as we heal ourselves, we heal the collective. Shadow work is paramount in our personal healing journeys. Hello and welcome to "Radiance," the podcast. My name is Irene, and I am your host. You can also consider me your holistic medicine and soul guide. Today, I want to talk about the shadow. As I am recording this in April of 2024, this month has been significant in terms of astrological events, and right now, we are in a post-eclipse shadow. We recently experienced two super powerful eclipses. One of them was a total solar eclipse in Aries, aligned with the North Node of the Moon in Aries. The other was an full moon eclipse in the South Node, of the moon in the sign of Libra. Additionally, tomorrow, we're moving into a full moon in Scorpio. For those knowledgeable about astrology, all these events speak to the importance of shadow work.

Eclipses occur when remarkable celestial alignments take place, requiring the sun, moon, and earth to come into complete alignment. The synchronicities and alignments necessary for this manifestation are truly incredible. Outside of eclipses, during events like new moons, equinoxes, and solstices, we work with the energies of the sun and moon, representing fire and water, the masculine and feminine primordial principles, respectively. The sun symbolizes our highest self or spirit, while the moon represents the shadow, the unconscious, and our emotions. Typically, we navigate between these two energies, but during an eclipse, a third element—the earth—comes into play. This additional element facilitates the transcendence of duality, aligning all parts of ourselves for an upgrade to our highest manifestation.

Eclipses serve as portals for evolution and upgrades. However, before this transformation can occur, the light must be switched off, symbolized by the sun being obscured. This invites us to delve into the unconscious, the depths, and the shadows. It's not advisable to view an eclipse directly; instead, it's a time for introspection, to close our eyes, shut out distractions, and go inward.

Over the past three weeks, we've been immersed in this eclipse energy, which has urged us to release relationships, especially those causing imbalance and disharmony. It's a call to let go of toxic relationships, both external and internal, and to shed the need for external validation. This eclipse energy propels us towards the North Node in Aries, encouraging us to embrace our true selves, assert our authenticity, and step into leadership roles.

Now, we approach the final piece of this celestial puzzle: the full moon in Scorpio. Associated with Pluto, the Lord of the underworld, Scorpio delves into the occult, exploring themes of sex, power, and transformation. It symbolizes death and rebirth, inviting us to journey into the depths of our shadows, composting and transforming ourselves like the phoenix rising from the ashes.

So, what is the shadow? It encompasses everything we've rejected about ourselves and others—the aspects that make us cringe or judge. These traits are often stored deep in our psyche, out of sight and out of mind. However, within these shadows lie hidden treasures—qualities and powers we've relegated due to societal conditioning or trauma.

Trauma, as defined by Gabor Mate, is not merely the event itself but how we experience it. Our psyche's fragmentation allows us to cope in the moment, but unresolved trauma lingers in the shadows, manifesting as panic attacks or disruptive behaviors. To heal, we must consciously revisit these experiences, allowing ourselves to feel and integrate them fully.

Shadow work is akin to a treasure hunt, where we confront discomfort to reclaim our true nature—our wisdom, power, and authenticity. As Carl Jung said, "Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will rule your life and you will call it destiny." By bringing light to our shadows, we transform and compost, creating space for joy, love, and connection.

Through this internal work, we not only transform ourselves but also contribute to the healing of our families, communities, and the collective. If you're interested in exploring shadow work in a safe, supportive space, consider joining our community, Radiance. We offer transformative practices and events, such as tomorrow's full moon ceremony, where we'll engage in potent soul retrieval practices.
