Hello and welcome to the podcast. My name is Irene, and I’m your host.
This space is devoted to the illumination and liberation of the feminine. My intention is to offer you both personal stories for inspiration, and educational content to support you on your journey of holistic healing — especially when it comes to your womb space.
Today, I want to talk about holistic womb healing.
For those of you who don’t know me — I studied Western medicine in Mexico. Later, I moved to Canada to study Chinese medicine and acupuncture. I also trained as a psychotherapist and a birth doula. And all of those pieces — the medical, the energetic, the emotional, the spiritual — are part of what I now offer. That’s what integrative medicine means to me.
But I want to clarify something, because I think these terms can sometimes get mixed up: what’s the difference between holistic medicine and integrative medicine?
Integrative medicine brings together different healing modalities that might traditionally seem incompatible — like Western medicine and Eastern medicine. And now, within Western medicine, we have what’s called functional medicine, which is kind of like a bridge. Functional medicine acknowledges the importance of nutrition, lifestyle, sleep, stress management — all things ancient medicines like Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine have addressed for thousands of years.
When I studied medicine in Mexico, I remember we only had one nutrition class over six years of training. Just one! And now, after walking the path of holistic healing for over 20 years, I know that food is medicine. Nutrition is a key part of our healing.
Holistic healing looks at health through a whole-person lens. The word holistic comes from the root of healing — to become whole, to become complete.
For me, a healer is not someone who “fixes” you — a healer is a facilitator. Someone who guides you back to remembering your true nature. And your true nature is already whole. Already complete. Already divine.
In holistic healing, we don’t just look at the physical body. We see the multidimensional layers of who you are: your energy body, your emotions, your thoughts, your spirit, your soul.
True healing happens when we bring together body, mind, heart, and soul. If we only stay in the physical, the patterns often repeat — because the root cause hasn’t been addressed.
The body gives us signals. Symptoms are clues. And when we follow the thread of those clues — when we go deeper into the story beneath them — we often uncover something powerful. And when we meet that place with love, with attention, with healing, something transforms.
This is liberation. This is healing.
I see this path like the journey of the lotus flower — transforming from the mud, from the murky waters, into something radiant and beautiful.
We are living in chaotic times — as individuals and as a collective. And in moments like this, I come back to love. I once heard someone say, “I may not know what truth is, but I know how love feels — and I’ll follow that.”
That’s what holistic healing is: the path of love. The path of remembering who you are. Of coming home to yourself. Of remembering that you are sacred.
And this brings us to womb healing.
Why is womb healing so important for us as women?
Because our womb is our most sacred vessel. It is the Holy Grail within us. It holds the codes of creation, the wisdom of life, the energy of the Mother.
In esoteric teachings, there’s always talk of searching for the Holy Grail. But we, as women, are the Holy Grail. Our wombs hold the nectar, the amrita, the sacred waters of life.
Our womb is our inner matrix — our creative center, our power source.
So much of our modern world disconnects us from this. We live in systems that value productivity, speed, doing — the masculine, yang energy. And while structure has its place, without flow, without softness, without connection to the yin, the feminine, we lose balance.
And I see this disconnection in so many women — disconnection from their cycles, from their blood, from their inner rhythms. Many don’t even know when they bleed or notice the quality of their blood.
And this disconnect can show up in the body — through infertility, PCOS, endometriosis, irregular cycles, amenorrhea. It can also show up in how we relate to pleasure, boundaries, sovereignty, creativity.
I speak from experience — I was on birth control from age 14 to 27 because of PCOS. It was the only solution I was given at the time. But it disconnected me from my body, from my cycles, from my power.
Now I know — our cycle is wisdom. Every phase has a message. Every phase carries medicine.
I'll do another episode soon diving deeper into the different phases of our cycle and how to work with them.
But know this — the womb is not just physical. It has its own subtle anatomy, its own energetic blueprint, its own portals.
In Chinese medicine, there is a meridian that connects the heart and the womb. When your heart is open, your womb is open. When your heart is closed, your womb closes too.
The womb is also the portal to our soul — a place where we can access past lives, memories, healing, and deep spiritual connection.
And this is just the beginning.
If you’re new to this work, a beautiful first step is simply to get curious about your own womb space. Where do you feel in balance? Where do you feel out of balance?
To support you in this, I created a Womb Quiz based on Chinese medicine — where you can find out your womb type: cold, damp, stagnant, hot, or balanced. And based on your results, I’ll send you a free PDF with self-care practices to support your healing.
And if you want to go deeper, I also created a Womb Medicine Bundle — an affordable way to dive into this work and access more tools and practices.
All the details are in the show notes.
If this episode resonated with you, I’d love for you to subscribe, share it with a friend, or leave a review. And you can also find me on YouTube to watch these episodes in video form.
Thank you for being here.
May you give yourself permission to connect with your womb, to listen, to love, and to remember the truth of who you are.
Sending you so much love, and I’ll see you in the next episode.
